Despite a pitiful 7-2 showing the Stars looked good last night. The passes were crisp, the effort tremendous and despite a hasty retreat by Old-Man Geno all had an excellent time. Team Russia proved formidable and many Stars were frustrated (see Guenthner/Hammer) despite an excellent outing we couldn’t score and they obviously could.
Thank god that Forest (Iron-Head) Appleton is okay after a brush with death mid-way through the third period. Many Stars players crowded around as Forest lay motionless on the ice. Finally the beast within Forest stirred and he finished the game without incident. We can only hope he regains his playoff form by Monday night.
All discussion pointed towards a 5th place finish in the Summer session. We should match-up with the Huskies Monday night for a 4-5 matchup. Winner plays the Blues for a shot at the Summer session championship.
I want to send one last shout-out for all to show up Monday night. We could use the players and of course the beer will flow as always.
